Founded in 2004 by Tony Heslop, Les Kitchen and Bruce Atkinson The Clay Center, Inc. is a 2500 sq. ft. privately owned ceramics studio that offers a shared studio space for those desiring to work in the ceramic arts. The Clay Center, Inc. offers 6 and 12 month memberships, 10 x 10' professional spaces, 6 x 6' spaces, rolling ware cart rental and basic membership, all of which offer 24 hour/ 7 day a week access. Workshops and classes are available for the beginning to the advanced ceramicists. Special discounted memberships are also available for high school and college students. Studio space is geared for recreation as well as the full time production. The Clay Center, Inc. provides a productive studio environment with the goal of promoting excellence in clay art.

Mission Statement by the founders: "The Clay Center is an open studio dedicated to raising awareness and appreciation for pottery. The Clay Center will strive to provide a quality location and atmosphere for learning, growing and simply enjoying the art of recreational and production pottery. The Clay Center desires to make life great for all potters".

Resident ceramic artists at the studio have as much as 30 years experience in ceramics. Some of the resident artists are self taught and others have terminal degrees in ceramics. Less experienced members are encouraged to take advantage of the knowledge available to them. Members are free to observe, ask questions and learn from the professional artist helping to create a positive work space for all.

The Clay Center, Inc.is primarily made up of studio potters. The objects produced range from functional to art pottery.
